フィン：Look, that isn't who I am, and I'm tired of it.This is waht I want to be doing,with you guys.I used to think that this was, like, the lamest thing on Earth, and maybe it is, but...we're all here for the same reason--cause we want to be good at something.

でも、あれは本当の俺じゃない。もううんざりだ。本当は歌いたいんだ。君たちと。前はグリーなんて世界一ダサイと思ってたし、実際いけてないけど、気持ちはみんなと同じだ。何かで輝きたい。

「あなたに謝らなきゃいけない」/ 「お詫びしなければいけません」という決まり文句。

フレーズに関して、フィンが ‘I owe you guys an aplogy.’ と言っているように、この場合に限らず、’you guys’「君ら」‘you two’「あなたたち２人」’you all’「あなたたち全員」など同じ ’you’でもバリエーションを効かせることができます。

エマ：I want to show you something.I did a little research...and this is a tape I found in the liblary of the 93 team at nationals.

I knew who I was in the world.And the only time I7ve felt..I've felt that way since then was when Terri told me I was going to be a father.No,  need to provide for my family.

何より歌が好きだから。歌ってる途中で勝てるって確信したよ。ステージの上で、あの瞬間、生きてる喜びを感じた。あの時と同じ気持ちを味わったのが自分が父親になると知った時だ。やっぱり、家族を養う義務がある。

エマ：But provide what exactly?The understanding that money is the most important thing or the idea that the only life worth living is one that you're really passionate about, Will ?

子供に何を教えるの？人生で一番大事なのはお金だってこと？それより身をもって、何かに本気で打ち込める人生こそ、価値があるっていうことを教える？

やめるの？いつ？

シュー：Well, I've given my two weeks' notice, but I promise I'm gonna find you guys a great replacement before I go.

まだ二週間ある。約束するよ。必ずいい後任を見つけるって。

メルセデス：Is this cause those Carmel kids were so good ? Becaus we can work harder.

カーメル高校がすごすぎたからやめるの？あたしたち頑張るよ。

レイチェル：This isn't fair, Mu.Schuester.We can't do this without you.

ひどすぎます先生。先生なしじゃ無理です。

フィン：So does that mean that I don't have to be in the club anymore or ...? 

てことはもう抜けていいってこと？俺の罰は終わり？

This isn't about you guys.Being an adults is about having to make difficult choices.It's not like hish school.Sometimes you have to give up the things that you love.One day you guys are going to grow up and understand that.I have loved being your teacher.

君たちのせいじゃない。大人になると難しい事情があるんだ。高校生と違って、好きなことをあきらめることもある。君たちも大人になればわかるよ。今まで楽しかった。みんなとやれて。

単純な英語でも通訳によって素敵な日本語に。。。

※hiring：hiringは、雇っている、だけでなくて、こちらのように雇用募集している。の意味でも使える。

※can you do me a favor ?：こちらによると、please help me. Whould you help me ?よりも腰の低い感じのお願いになるらしい。

＠ロッカーでレイチェルがフィンに詰め寄る

レイチェル：Didn't see you at Glee Club today. 

なんで今日サボったの？（今日こなかった）

フィン：Is that still happening ?

レイチェル：I've taken over.I'm interim director,but I expect the position will become permanent.

あたしがやってる。臨時で始めたばかりだけど、演出する自信はある（臨時だけどいずれ確定する）。

フィン：Schuester told me he'd give me enougn extra credit to pass Spanish if I joined the club, okay? I.. I didn't have a choice.Look, it's over, okay, I quit.Anything else ?

シュースターに言われたんだ。グリーに入ればスペイン語の単位をやるって。仕方なかった。If I failed another class, I'd be off the team.あと一単位落とせばアウトだからな。でも、もう済んだ。グリーはやめた。いいだろ？

パック：No, that's it.And as a welcome back to the world of the normal...I got you a present.

フィン：Whats's that noise ?Is someone in there ?

パック：We got wheelchair kid inside.We're going to flip it.

フィン：Isn't that kind of dangerous ?

フィン：Don't you get it, man? We're all losers--everyone in this school.Hell, everyone in this town.Out of all the kids who graduate, maybe half will go to college a-and two ... will leave the state to do it.I'm not afraid of being called a loser' cause I can accept that that's what I am.But I am afraid of turning my back on something that actually made me happy for the first time in my sorry life.

口語、話し言葉で「because」が省略されて「’cause」となることがあります。「’cause」は「because」の意味として使われるのであって、このページでしてきた「cause」の意味ではありません。

またネットやチャット系の画面では「cuz」と書かれることもあります。こちらはタイプすることが目的であって、声に出すことを前提としていない表現です。これも「because」の省略であり、becauseの意味で用いられています。

スー先生：So, you want to talk to my Cheerios about joning Glee Club ?
うちのメンバーをグリークラブに勧誘したいって？

シュー先生：Well, I need more kids-- performers-- and all the best ones are in the Cheerios, so I figured some of them might want to double up.

シュー先生：Thanks, Ken.Hey, guys, how you doing ? Uh, I think recognize some of you from Spanish class, but, uh, I'm...I'm here today to talk to you about something different: uh, music.Glee club needs guys.

It was seeing the gift in a kid that they did'n even know they had. It was pure talent. What I did then.. was the blackest moment of my life )

フィン：Wait, I ... I had a football scholarship? To.. to where ?
